About Our Teachers

Carol Mandere
Program Director and Threes Teacher
Carol has a B.A. in Child Development and Family Relations with a minor in Psychology from San Jose State University. Carol has worked for a total of 24 years in co-op preschools, 18 years of which as a Teacher/Director. This year, Carol is our Director and teacher for our "Threes" class.
"I believe in providing the preschool child with a sensory rich play environment for exploration, discovery and understanding beyond mere facts. I feel that children thrive in a loving atmosphere that provides parental support, while also giving them the freedom to problem solve, question and the courage to try new things."
Carol has one son who attended a parent participation preschool before Carol became employed as a teacher there herself. She grew up in a family of five children, on a sheep ranch in the east foothills of San Jose. Her son is now grown and living on his own, enjoying the bachelors life. Carol's hobbies include gardening, quilting, reading and she has studied the art of China painting for many years.

Carol has been a teacher with us since 2001.

Monica Grodin
Twos Teacher
Monica, teacher for our toddler-parent class, first came to Campbell Parents Participation Preschool in 1990 as a participating parent. Campbell Parents' Participation Preschool gave her a great opportunity to be a part of her children's first school experience. She so strongly believes in the parent participation philosophy that her two boys, both graduates of CPPP, went on to a parent participation elementary school. Monica now brings over 15 years experience working and teaching at parent participation schools.
"I believe in a child-centered philosophy, which allows children to learn through play and by exploring the environment at their own developmental pace."
In addition, Monica was a Preschool Teacher for three years and a Director for one and half years for children ages 2 to 5. Monica received a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico, and has her Adult Education teaching credential in Parent Education.
"I am excited to be working with the young children and their parents at Campbell Parents' Participation Preschool, during this exciting time in their lives. There is so much to experience, learn, and explore at the preschool age."
